Glengorm Castle – not too far a drive away from Tobermory, Glengorm is your archetypal fairytale castle with turrets and towers. There is a gallery and coffee shop and Glengorm is also now the home of Starfish Ceramics where you can pick up some beautiful pottery. As well as resident ‘Starfish’, other local artist’s work is also available to buy. There are also many short walks around the castle grounds including a walk to some standing stones.. |

Torosay Castle and Gardens The Castle is open from March to October and the gardens year-round. The gardens feature many statues and the paths are lovely to walk around. There is also now a children’s play area. Inside, you are invited to sit on the furniture and there are lots of interesting family heirlooms, paintings and the like, to view. The James’ family live at the castle so you may bump into the Laird himself in his home! |

Wings Over Mull, Birds of Prey Centre A fascinating place for children (and adults!) to learn all about different Birds of Prey. We would recommend you go in time for one of the displays as you learn so much from the owner. This place serves as a sanctuary for many of the birds there and an information centre |

Ulva Ulva is a privately owned island with no roads, just tracks suitable for mountain bikers and walkers with sturdy footwear! It is a fascinating place to visit. You can get there on the Ulva Ferry Monday to Friday between 0900 and 1700 on demand. The ferry is signposted from Salen and to summon it, you move a very technical piece of wood to show ‘red’ which alerts the ferryman that you want to go over! |

Staffa An island of caves, this is an intriguing place to visit, the most famous cave is one you may have seen on many postcards, called Fingal’s Cave. There are many tours from either Mull or Iona during the Summer season |

The Quest Craignure Tourist Information Office is running a program for children entitled ‘The Quest’ (for a Magical Stone). It aims to show children there is more to Mull than Balamory. It is aimed at children aged 7-12 years. It takes the form of setting Treasure Hunt style tasks which children have to complete in order to be awarded a piece of the Magical Stone and be named a ‘Keeper’ of that stone. The tasks will involve your child learning more about wildlife, geology or history of Mull. To get started, visit the Tourist office at Craignure and ask a member of staff there if you can sign The Quest book. From there you will be set your challenge(s). |
